The Polar Bear design originated from a hand painted t-shirt I created for my son that evolved into a two part stencil design and applied through stippling and airbrush onto art paper and glass. The effect is to create a painting caught between Neolithic cave art and modern graffiti. It is a striking image that evokes the ferocious spirit of the animal.
Animals hold power within shamanism, becoming literal embodiments of their attributes and symbolic metaphors for deeper psychological patterns. Bears are common within the Northern Tradition representing overcoming fear within initiation experiences. The Polar Bear, with its sleek white look would have been an incredible sight within the Artic circle, to our ancestors.
