This screen print piece was created exclusively for the Art Hound Gallery’s Punk and Printmaking show Neat, Neat, Neat in 2019 and is sold through them as an edition of 13 (lunar months). It morphs the Egyptian ‘wadjet’ with the iconic gaze of punk legend Siouxsie Sioux. By combining the ‘Eye of Horus’ and the ‘Eye of Ra’ this design summons the goddess Isis, in her powerful protective role.

The screenprint uses two colours, the first is a subtle white, distinct from the paper surface, followed by a powerful matt black, made using Culture Hustle Black2. Together they create a subtle but transfixing effect, best viewed in person, that follows my interest in playing with different finishes and subtle colour combination to produce optical illusions.
